Proof of mastery: applying cream polish barehanded, but kept his shirt cuffs free of smudges - shoe polishing cleanly, now that need skill. Never been able to polish my shoes without leaving splattermarks everywhere on the floor and nearby furniture.
Gorgeous shine on those shoes. Would love to use the products he uses. They look magnificent. If only women could get shoes like that. Ours are horribly unstable. Love Clarks loafers.. but they don't come close to a gorgeous pair of stylish Oxfords.
Did you not notice how he Incorporated the two-tone effect. Ultra high gloss finish on the toes and base of the shoe with a dull satin patina to the base. Both skilled and artistic.
Also a good way to fail an inspection! That's the lazy way to shine, just the toe,and the heel cap. If you're gonna do it right, the whole shoe/boot should be the same high shine! Fancy corner cutting is still corner cutting!
@@tomcline5631 Doing the whole shoe would cause the wax to crack around the vamp, leaving a white residue - so that's not cutting corners that's just smart polishing.
I'm sorry,I've been shining my Whole shoe/boot for about 40 years now and never had polish crack! If you use a stingy touch with the polish( wax, never liked the cream) and rubbed in good then when it hazes buff it real good then use a little water on a cotton ball or silk hanky and buff it til it shines,it will have a mirror finish and it will not crack. If you polish and spit shine your boots like this every day like I did,you might have to strip the polish once a month to keep it from building up to much. If you don't wear them all the time, like with a dress boot, you might not have to strip them but once or twice a year. I used to make good money shining people's shoes/boots. Never had the polish crack,if it does you are doing something wrong
It's a bit of a job the first time, but once you get a good base you can just buff and shine most normal wear right out! If you're rough on a shine like I am,you'll have to repair any big scratches. Start with a very small amount of polish, rub it in real thin. That's the main thing, then let it haze over good then use a soft brush and buff it out. If you are getting brush scratches let it dry longer. Once you have the soft shine, take a silk hanky ( or a cotton ball) I prefer a hanky, stretched tight over my finger. Get it slightly damp and start polishing, lightly. You'll know if you're doing it right, because the mirror shine will come right out. My Dad was a Marine Sargent in the late 60s and 70s,when they still wore starched fatigues and spit shined boots! He taught me to spit shined boots before I could ride a bike! I've always worn leather shoes/boots,never went in for sneakers as every day shoes. I almost always have a high shine on my boots! Good luck, and take care!
Using your fingers is an interesting way of doing this job. Never saw this here in Germany... But it makes totally sense: You "feel" how the leather absorbs the pomade and wax. This prevents you to use too much - using less is key.
Dan Gates I’ve seen some videos before where the polishing was done using cloth all the time and never could do it myself. After trying to do it barehanded, it suddenly worked and my shoes are as beautiful as I wanted them to be
I think you get a better feel for how much polish the leather needs when you do it by hand. There's something about being able to feel the leather that definitely helps amplify the shine.
I always thought I was crazy to apply shoe shine, both cream and wax based polishes, by hand. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one haha. I don't like hair fibers on my shoes.
Saphir seems to sell ultra premium level shoe cream and polishes. I actually just watched a video with a guy using them. He will tell you the types and methods that he used. Here you can watch this: ruclips.net/video/F7T-c-BY0S0/видео.html
I shine my motorcycle boots like that before I ride or when I get home from riding. I guess it's an old school Marine thing. It just takes a little practice to learn how to get a mirror gloss finish on the toes. Saphir Pate de Luxe and Saphir Medaille D'OR Mirror Gloss are great products for your shoes and boots. Make sure you use a 100% cotton cloth, like an old Tshirt to polish with.
Very relaxing to watch, speaking of you didn't spell watch correctly on the "Thank you for wathing" comment! Not being a troll just didn't want your perfect performance diminished by a grammatical error!
I learned from my dad,Marine sergeant. Hell,I made money during highschool polishing other people's shoes in marching band, even made a few bucks polishing this one cop's leathers before they went to that nylon crap. Kept my boots spit polished to a mirror shine when I was a firefighter, and wore leather belt and all my gear, when I was a security guard, polished all of it once a week. Its just relaxing to me. Love shining shoes. Maybe that's what I should do,once I get to broke down to climb up and down outta these semis, open a shoeshine stand!

Wow long video i wounder who's shoes these are there worth a fortune in japan custom made shoes !! the to cap that he keeps shinning is cordavan needs very little work but the heel and sides are incomplete well done
If you just rubbed it on there and brushed it shiny yeah it would. When you work it real thin and buff it really good it winds up super thin and basically you are just filling in the surface of the leather, and there's not really any "coating" of polish.
wish i had a job where nice shoes like that would be appropriate. I mean i am the boss and all... but i still gotta dig in and get my feet dirty and stand and walk on filthy concrete floors 12+ hours... oh well, one day, just gotta keep on grinding.
Ishimi san, perhaps you could talk as well shine the shoes. I found your through a Forza Style. The stories you were narrating in the video were entertaining. Such videos, I believe, would reach more people. Please try it!
If you have a good base shine, you can buff the scratches caused by daily wear out two or three times before you need to shine em again with polish! Personally, don't like or use cream polish. I use kiwi wax polish, and you could signal the space station with my boots! The cream stuff doesn't put a hard shine on em. Can't get a "spit polish" shine with the creams.
That's a really cool spit dispenser he's got. I wonder if he collected all of that spit at once at once, himself or does he get the whole family to pitch in?
